The Story of Life in English

When I started Life in English, I didn’t have any particular vision or goals for the project. I just wanted to give English learners something interesting to listen to besides the same boring grammar and vocabulary lessons that most language teachers post on YouTube.

After having learned Spanish and Portuguese without leaving my home or taking any courses, I already knew that the best way to learn a language is by simply living your life in that language every single day. And that’s how I came up with the name ‘Life in English.’

So I started a podcast and simply talked about things I found interesting. And over time, I came to realize that this was what people appreciated most. People wanted to be exposed to authentic English that they would actually hear in the streets of the United States. People wanted to learn English in a more practical and interesting way.

Our Mission

And so that has become our mission here at Life in English; to help you understand authentic American English and the diverse culture of the people who speak it.

We want people to realize that once they master the fundamentals of a language, all they need in order to become fluent is quality content, a community of friends to learn and grow with, and daily practice.

With our weekly podcast, engaging street interviews, supplemental learning materials, and online community, you’ll have everything you need to improve your reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills in a relaxed and entertaining way.
